What You Should Know About Your Peugeot Key Fob

Keyless Entry

Key fobs can help start the engine of your car. This can be useful if you need to leave the vehicle during the heat of summer, or if you're carrying large items in the boot that make it difficult to open the door manually. Press the unlock button on your key fob couple of times to open the car. The door locks will unlock and the red light will begin to flash. If it doesn't then the battery in your key fob might be depleted and require replacement. In addition, RF interference from nearby buildings may cause interference to your system.

Some key fobs also have an actual key that can be used to unlock your vehicle (often for the driver's side door, but occasionally the boot as well). You can open them by lifting the flap or pressing the button. The physical key can then be pulled out of the slot inside the case.

Key fobs can get damaged by water - particularly when the chips inside are exposed to salty or soapy water. In certain instances, a chip that is damaged can cause key fobs not to function. If this happens, the key fob will have to be replaced - typically by the dealer. However, locksmiths may provide replacement keys quicker than dealers, and at a lesser cost.

Remote Start

You can start your car without needing to have your keys in your car. This is particularly useful when it's hot outside and you're looking to cool down your car while running around. There are some things you must know before using this feature.

Some key fobs feature a specific remote engine start button (for example Ford's keyfob has a circular arrow going clockwise) which you must press in order to start the car remotely. Mazdas, for example, require you to lock the key first and then press the Start button.

You may have a dead or weak battery in your key fob, if you aren't able to start the car. This is due to the fact that the batteries inside the key fob aren't able anymore to send a strong signal to the car's system.

If this is the case, then you'll need replace the batteries in the key fob or attempt changing the program. Door Locks
